Imagine walking into a gallery where there’s only one artwork on display, and you have just 24 hours to decide if you want to own it. If you do, you can join a raffle for a chance to buy it. That’s the idea behind 24hdrop, a new way to discover and buy art online without all the long waits or complicated processes.

Challenge & Responsibilities

I worked with the founder on the next iteration of the app. We ran user interview to learn what art lovers needed and wanted when it comes to buying art online. Besides a soft redesign, we also wanted to introduce new engaging features, and make the app available for Android users to make sure more people could enjoy this exciting, fresh approach to art buying.

A Simple Introduction for First-Time Users

We reimagined the onboarding experience, creating a straightforward, 4-step onboarding flow that visually appeals and introduces the concept behind the app in simple terms.

Enhanced Navigation for a Seamless User Experience

We made the main navigation larger and easier to interact with, making sure key buttons were always visible and easy to tap. We also improved the “Index” page, which now shows past drops in a simple grid format.

Encouraging Drop Participation

A new behind-the-artwork story-style format and other visual clues and information should give art lovers a better feeling of how the raffle works and connect them closer with the artists and their works.

Working with Simon was a lot of fun. From his thoughtful exploration of various ideas to his keen eye for detail, user needs, and design, he made the entire project run smoothly—and the result is fantastic. I’ll definitely involve him in developing the next features!

Outcome

The updated app features a clearer onboarding process, smoother navigation, and new features making it easier for art lovers to engage with the weekly drops and connect with the artists and their work. Additionally we launched the app in the Google Play Store to reach a wider audience.
